Create and manage courses
Open Courses in VidyaLMS. Search by title, filter by category or publication state, and choose the list or card view that helps you find your work. Enrolment and completion figures help you see which courses are in use before making a major change.
Understand the builder
| Section | What you do there |
|---|---|
| Curriculum | Create modules and lessons, arrange them, edit lesson content, and build quizzes |
| Course details | Write the title, summary, and description; choose category, language, level, cover, and teaching team |
| Access | Set free or paid access, catalogue visibility, prerequisites, schedules, and exceptions |
| Assessment & completion | Define course completion and select certificate requirements |
| Publishing | Review readiness and publish or archive the course |
| Course tools | Open related teaching tools such as Gradebook and Course runs |
Each editor saves its own changes. Saving a lesson is not the same as saving a changed completion policy. Pay attention to unsaved-change messages when switching sections.
Make a useful course page
Use a title that describes the outcome, such as “Food safety for your first kitchen shift.” In the summary, say who it is for and what learners will be able to do. Put detailed requirements, materials, and expected effort in the description.
Choose a category learners will recognize. Categories organize discovery; they do not grant access. Use Categories to maintain your catalogue structure. Add a cover image that remains clear at card size, and review the course-card preview before saving.
Set language and level accurately. Add the teaching team if more than one person will prepare or assess the course. Their account permissions still determine what they can do.
Publish with confidence
Complete the curriculum, review access and completion settings, then open Publishing. Resolve the readiness issues shown and publish. Use Preview course to review presentation, followed by a normal learner account to check actual access and progression.
A published course can still be hidden from a particular person by access rules, prerequisites, organization restrictions, or scheduling. Publishing does not enrol everyone.
Unpublish, archive, delete, or restore
- Unpublish returns a course to Draft and removes learner catalogue and lesson entry points. Use it when the course should stop being available while you edit.
- Archive keeps a course out of active teaching workflows while retaining its records. Review it before republishing.
- Delete moves the course to recoverable Trash. It does not permanently erase its curriculum, enrolments, grades, or certificates.
- Restore returns a trashed course to Draft. Review and publish it when ready.
Read the confirmation before acting on a course with learners. On WordPress, the associated course page follows the course's publication state. Do not delete that page as a substitute for using the VidyaLMS lifecycle controls.
